Rainbow Muffin Tin
Muffin Tin Monday had a theme this week: RAINBOW! I had to get a little bit creative, as I didn't have anything blue! I'm jealous of everyone that has fresh blueberries this week! Red apples, orange carrots, yellow tomatoes, green peppers, blue easter egg with a treat inside, purple jam on toast! Fun week!
Buggles got this Play-Doh set as a present and we had so fun creating a little light-up aquarium out of play-doh!
Super yummy honey-balsamic chicken.

Muffin Tins and Bows
I love the idea that Sycamore Stirrings has come up with, Muffin Tin Meals. I've been meaning to jump on the muffin tin bandwagon for a few weeks now and I finally got around to it. Squishy loved it! Buggles was at school but I'm sure it will be something she is into as well. We will definitely try to do the rainbow themed muffin tin on Monday!!
These are from my first foray into hairbow creating. I'm pretty pleased with the pinkish one. Buggles is my girly girl and she loves them! I definitely see multitudes of hairbow making in our future!

Butter Making and other things
My computer has risen from the dead. Yay! I will get some pictures up later this evening. Thank goodness she's working again, I was about to start panicking.
We spent most of the week house sitting for my parents...it was a nice little vacation in our own town! We lounged around the pool most of the time. Squishy and I played outside quite a bit because we had a break in the weather. It was 90-something instead of 100-something. I'll take what I can get!
I had seen a few blogs making butter in the past few weeks. I saw that my mom had heavy cream on hand and I wanted to try it out. So simple! Put it in a jar and shake for 20 minutes, until the butter separates from the milk and voilĂ ! Butter. It was so much better than 'regular' butter. I will definitely try it again with Buggles soon.
We're so happy that she's home! 4 days was too long without her. Squishy is so glad her sissy is home.
I just had to enter this giveaway on Grosgrain. Such an adorable little dress.

Technical Difficulties
Our (only 6 months old) computer apparently contracted a virus or something. It is dead, dead, dead. I won't be able to do many updates for awhile, though I will try! We're at my parents' house for a few days, house-sitting while they are on vacation. Buggles is with them and we miss her so! Squishy is so lost without her big sissy, so sad =(
Cross your fingers that we get the computer fixed, I am dying a little bit inside if we lose all of the pictures that I (stupidly) didn't back-up. Argh!

Happy Independence Day!
One day late. Better late than never, yes? We had a great day, even though we didn't see any fireworks at all. Not a one! Our county doesn't allow home fireworks any more, this is the first year they've done it. It was weird to not see/hear fireworks all night long. We opted to not go to the local firework show, it's always WAY super crowded and hot and it didn't start until nearly 10:00. We went to a swimming BBQ at my parents' house for most of the day. We had a blast. It was one of the most fun parties we've had in awhile!
My husband's birthday is tomorrow, the 6th, so we also made yesterday's BBQ a kind of birthday party, too. I saw this cake on Wisdom of the Moon and I was inspired to try it on my own for his birthday cake. DISMAL. FAILURE. Oh, my goodness. It was disastrous. Apparently candy making is not my forte. I am so stubborn I haven't quite accepted this yet. I will get it right, I WILL! I burnt the first batch horribly, the second batch started to burn and turned a bit yellow, so when I tried to dye the candy blue it ended up green. My toppers ended up looking nothing like fireworks whatsoever.
The general consensus was 'sea urchins'
Meh!
The cake part was FANTASTIC, though. My go-to cake recipe is Dorie Greenspan's Perfect Party Cake. I make this for every occasion and always get compliments on it. Delicious.
Lots of swimming. The girls LOVE the pool. They would stay in there all day if they could. We put the tarp up and it really helps keep the water cool. We're in the desert and when it's 120 degrees outside the water is about 95 and not very refreshing at all! The tarp really helps. It also keeps sunburns at bay.
Gotta love trikes with bells on them, juice boxes, corn on the cob, watermelon (from our garden!) and kiddie tables!
Hope everyone had a great day! Happy 4th!
